Vikings Blade has been creating men’s luxury shaving products since 1985 with a focus on safety razors. Their safety razors have been highly rated on Amazon for years and they continue to offer high-quality Vikings Blade shaving products year after year. Not to mention the company prides itself on customer service and providing an overall great experience for the customer.
Being a huge fan of safety razors myself, I decided to give Vikings Blade a well-deserved try. My first experience with their products would be The Godfather. The Godfather is an exceptional safety razor that has some great features. The razor is on the heavier and lengthier side but is very sleek and well designed. Also, I found it very easy to change blades as the head screws off into 2 pieces and a blade is inserted.
Overall, the quality of The Godfather is extremely high. Not only does this safety razor perform extremely well, but it also looks and feels great in the hand. The Godfather also comes in a higher quality version, The Godfather Stonehenge.

Unboxing The Godfather
At first glance, with this being my first purchase from the company, I expected the safety razor to be simply packaged in a cardboard box with some inner packaging much like any other Amazon order.
The outer cardboard box itself is high quality and has a great graphic on the front displaying the razor enclosed (you can see I ordered a chrome finish). Other information about the brand and its social media can be found on the sides of the box. I could hardly wait to rip it open.
To my surprise, there was a box in a box! Inside of the outer cardboard box was a very high-quality case for the razor. The case has a leather feel to it and a magnetic closure. The quality of the packaging alone surpasses the quality of other actual products I have received in the past. The level of care and quality so far was impressive.
Inside of the case you find an information pamphlet, The Godfather safety razor, and 5 high-quality Vikings Blade Swedish steel replacement razor blades. The pamphlet has some brief instructions for using the razor and other relative information.
Instantly I appreciated the fact that the case could be used in the future as a travel case or even just to store the razor and blades in my bathroom without having anything loose.
After being in awe over the quality of the case for a few moments (I’m a simple guy), I took to The Godfather safety razor. The safety razor has an extremely high-quality mirror finish. The handle itself is on the longer side and is also a bit heavier than many other razors I have tried in the past.
The head of the razor is in the same finish and has the company name etched onto the top. Changing blades with the razor is as simple as unscrewing the top portion, inserting your favorite blade, and reattaching it all to the handle.
Shaving with The Godfather
Shaving with a safety razor with proper technique can give you a far smoother shave than other products. A common misconception is that more blades mean a closer shave, but this is far from fact. I am a firm believer that safety razors are the way to go, along with proper shave preparation.
I began by prepping my face as usual. I ensured my face was clean, and rinsed with warm but not hot water to soften my hair and open the pores on my face. Next, I applied a lather of shaving cream and worked it into my stubble.
Shaving with The Godfather was not unlike shaving with other safety razors. However, some things stood out for me. The heavier weight of the razor felt great in my hand and the longer handle gave me a more relaxed grip. I also noticed that the angle was more relaxed than my other more aggressive safety razors with shorter handles.
I made the first pass of my face, shaving with the grain of my hairs and rinsing my blade often. Rinsing The Godfather was almost effortless as the hair came off the razor quickly and easily. Speaking of effortless, the weight of the razor did all the work and I applied zero force as suggested also by the included instruction. I finished up shaving by applying more shaving cream and doing a quick second pass of my face to get any remaining stubble.

Overall Impression
The Godfather is an exceptional safety razor that is a luxury product at a very inexpensive price. I would say that I got a better shave with the Godfather razor than I have with most of the other razors I have tried in the past.
Aside from shave quality, I was overall very happy with the packaging, provided case, and the sample blades that came along with it. In all, I have been made a fan of Vikings Blade products and will be trying others soon.
