New to Vikings Blade, this is my second review of their best-rated double-bladed safety razors. The Chieftain is a smaller lighter safety razor in comparison to my last review razor The Godfather.
What I liked about this safety razor was its aggressive build. I have been shaving with a safety razor for some time now and I have a pretty good feel for it. Depending on your skill level and preference, you get a feel for handle length, weight, and even blades you like.
Unlike other similar razors, The Chieftain is simple yet extremely effective. The first thing I noticed about this razor was the guard it had. The guard allows the razor to glide across your skin smooth and give an amazing shave. It has the feel of a lubricated cartridge razor, without being one.
Overall The Chieftain safety razor by Viking Blades is an incredibly high-quality shaver that costs far less than any other shaver on the market. If you are looking for an inexpensive shave or even are new to shaving with a safety razor, The Chieftain is absolutely a great place to start.

Unboxing The Vikings Blade Chieftain
This is my second purchase from Vikings Blade and I was definitely not let down. I received another very high-quality box with the graphics and all of the other graphics on the outer box. At this point, I expected a very well packaged product but knew that there would be more once I opened the box.
As with The Godfather, the Chieftain was packaged very well. There was a box within a box. As I mentioned in my previous post, the cases for their blades are extremely high quality and can even be used as a travel case.
Surprisingly, this time the case had a built-in mirror. I don’t really see the actual use for the mirror as I would intend to shave in front of a mirror in a bathroom, but I actually appreciate the added touch. Vikings Blade clearly goes above and beyond with their products.
Within the case, there are 5 mild safety razor blades along with a nifty pamphlet with some great company information and instructions.
The Chieftain is built with a butterfly-style blade enclosure which is pretty convenient. You only need to twist the bottom of the handle in order to open it and insert a new blade.
Overall, The Chieftain has a great look to it. It has a chrome finish and is lightweight with a shorter handle.
Shaving with The Chieftain
Shaving with the Chieftain was ultimately a really good experience. I literally felt like I was shaving with a 5 blade disposable razor. The built-in guard on the razor is extremely well crafted and there clearly is a reason why this razor is so highly rated.
I did the usual main pass of my face with The Chieftain and made sure to do all of the proper shave prep to avoid any irritation. Then I followed my usual method of shaving and applied more cream to my face for a quick second pass. The Chieftain performed exceptionally well at this point because of how easy it is to target specific spots of the face.

Overall Impression
Being the second time I’ve tried Vikings Blade safety razors, I’m far from disappointed. The quality of everything even including their packaging is exceptional. The Chieftain safety razor was a great addition to my collection and might just push to be my regular razor.
I was mostly happy with the overall usefulness of the razor. The Chieftain is a small and compact razor that is very aggressive. However, in the hands of an experienced shaver, it can give an incredibly close shave. The Chieftain is also compact enough for precise shaving when you miss that tiny spot but don’t want to risk irritation. This is one safety razor that has a fighting chance at making it to my everyday shaver.
Good shave …
