Viking Revolution is a company focused primarily on beard care and luxury men’s grooming products. Established in 2016 by two friends sporting beards, the company has seen explosive growth in the beard care market. The company seeks to provide the highest quality products made by men who appreciate quality grooming products. They also pride themselves on their product sizes stating on their website:
“We also supply our products in man-size quantities, so they won’t run out before you’re ready.”
Being a self-proclaimed connoisseur of quality shaving products (sips tea with pinky out), I opted to try their Viking Revolution Sandalwood Shaving Cream and give it my honest review.
Viking Revolution shaving cream has all the characteristics of a very high-quality product. The packaging is very nice and as advertised the quantity of the product was more than competitors. Shaving with the shaving cream was a great experience. It lathers well and protects your skin far better than most generic off-the-shelf products.
The shaving cream performed exceptionally well with my Vikings Blade Godfather safety razor. Overall I would highly recommend Viking Revolution shaving cream to those who are looking for a shaving cream that stands out from the rest.
My in-depth review and unboxing of Viking Revolution Shaving Cream can be read below.
Unboxing Viking Revolution Shaving Cream
The box itself is well made and has cool branding logos and other information. Their logo is quite cool as it features a beard, scissors, and a straight-edge razor. On the box, you can also see that it lists the quantity of the package and scent.
Inside of the box, you will find a few cards of information, a decorative sticker (which is now stuck to my laptop, yes I’m one of those guys), and the jar of shaving cream. The jar is made of plastic and is labeled well with its logo and other product information.
Opening the jar you can immediately notice that Viking Revolution Shaving Cream is quite different from other shaving creams on the market. The shaving cream is very thick, smells great, and has a bit of a shine to it.
I went a bit further and got a shot of what the shaving cream mixes into when using a shaving brush and bowl. To mix, I rinsed my brush, swiped a small amount of the cream straight from the jar, and began whipping it around in the bowl. A little cream went a long way and I feel I’ll get quite a few shaves from this one container.
Pro tip: when mixing shaving cream with a bowl and a brush, periodically add water to your brush and continue mixing until you get the desired consistency. I prefer mine not too watery and not too thick.
Shaving with Viking Revolution Shaving Cream
Shaving with Viking Revolution Shaving Cream was a great experience. By mixing the cream in a bowl, I got the consistency I prefer for my sensitive skin. I noticed that when using my safety razor, I got little to no drag whatsoever. The cream also came off clean with every pass, unlike some shaving gels you can find on the market.
On a side note, using shaving gels with a safety razor isn’t the best thing because the gels are designed to be used with a disposable razor. Shaving gels take more passes with a razor to completely remove, and doing so with a safety razor can lead to unwanted irritation and even cuts.
When comparing Viking Revolution cream with a leading brand like Barbasol shaving cream the difference is very clear. Viking Revolution’s cream is extremely high quality and very thick, unlike aerosol creams that come from a can and are applied directly. I enjoy being able to tweak the consistency of my shaving cream with a traditional shaving brush and bowl.
As a bonus, the sandalwood scent was very pleasant and my significant other picked up on it almost immediately. She liked it so much, the next day she presented me with this awesome pack of 4 Viking revolution scented shaving soaps offered by Viking Revolution! Review is sure to come.
Takeaway
Viking Revolution Shaving Cream is a very high-quality product that I enjoyed reviewing. I prefer this type of shaving cream over one that comes from a spray can because of the quality. I was able to get a very rich lather from Viking Revolution cream using a shaving brush and bowl but I assume it could also be applied directly by hand. I got a very close shave with minimal irritation and no cuts from my safety razor.
